Born in Manchester, New Hampshire and moved to Los Angeles in 1981, Anton Tremblay’s first film was working as a miniature builder for Roger Corman’s Galaxy of Terror. The Production Designer was James Cameron, whose conceptual illustration provided much of Tremblay’s inspiration to become a Designer himself. After several years of working in special visual effects, the opportunity arose to design Spaced Invaders, a film heavy in effects. “The film was a hybrid of Popular Science and fifties aircraft and rocket technology. “Proportionately speaking, it is still the hardest film I’ve ever done.” It was a vast amount of design and fabrication for very little time and money.” 1990 brought Miracle Landing, a television docu-drama about the island hoping Hawaiian airliner that lost a portion of its upper fuselage while in flight. Tremblay, whose background in effects, also served as the Visual effects Art Director on the picture and later won an Emmy in that category!
In 1991 he designed the cult classic, Army of Darkness, directed by Sam Raimi. Also, for director Rob Zombie, Tremblay designed Devil’s Rejects, and later a remake of the original Halloween. Tremblay also served as an animation director for the second season of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, and designed prop jewelry for Stargate. Other films include Time Cop 2, Return of the Living Dead 3, Addams Family Reunion, Beethoven’s 5th, American Pie- Band Camp, Miss Nobody and Dark and Stormy Night. He is also a classically trained artist who works in oil paints in the old master style. He resides in Burbank, California.
